Role Purpose Statement

The Cold Food Operations Supervisor plays a key role in leading daily production and team performance within a high-volume, time-sensitive environment. This position ensures that cold food preparation, packaging, and delivery meet quality, safety, and customer standards while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and company procedures.

The supervisor is responsible for coordinating staff, monitoring workflow, resolving operational issues, and supporting cross-functional collaboration with logistics, culinary, and inventory teams. Strong leadership, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach are essential to success in this role.

Shift Flexibility Requirement: This position requires availability to work across two critical shifts based on operational needs:

  • Morning shift: 4:30 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Afternoon/evening shift: 2:30 PM – Midnight

Supervisors must be able to rotate between shifts and support coverage as needed, including weekends and holidays. Reliability, adaptability, and a commitment to maintaining service excellence during peak periods are essential

Main Accountabilities

Supervisor Responsibility

  • Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed and that all delivery times are being met timely
  • Conduct daily work group meetings
  • Schedule and control staff to meet labour productivity and overtime targets
  • Ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards (example: Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United Stated Department of Agriculture (USDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), etc.)
  • Document and follow up on all department processes in order to implement improvements
  • Ensure on-time and accurate production and/or catering of all flights
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
  • Other duties as deemed necessary

Leadership

  • Guide, motivate and develop staff within the Human Resources policies
  • Make the company's values and management principles live in the department(s)
  • Manage productivity hours and costs in the area of responsibility; initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations
  • Participate and support company sponsored initiatives such as Quality, HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, Employee Safety and Production systems

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Shift Flexibility: Ability to work both morning (4:30 AM – 2:00 PM) and afternoon/evening (2:30 PM – Midnight) shifts, including weekends and holidays

  • Team Leadership: Experience supervising diverse teams in a fast-paced, high-volume food production or logistics environment

  • Operational Coordination: Skilled in managing workflow, resolving issues, and maintaining production timelines

  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on food safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance

  • Communication: Clear, professional communication with team members, cross-functional partners, and leadership

  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify challenges and implement practical, timely solutions

  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating changing priorities, staffing needs, and operational demands

  • Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with production tracking systems, scheduling tools, and email communication

  • Physical Stamina: Capable of standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in refrigerated environments
