Role Purpose Statement

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory of food products, packaging, and operational supplies to support airline catering operations. This role ensures timely procurement, cost control, and compliance with company standards while maintaining strong vendor relationships.

Main Accountabilities

  • Source and purchase materials, food products, packaging, and supplies to meet daily operational needs.

  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely deliveries.

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to avoid shortages or waste.

  • Track purchasing activity using SAP MM and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Collaborate with culinary, logistics, and operations teams to align purchasing with production schedules.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and company standards.

  • Prepare reports and communicate updates to management.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in supply chain or business preferred.

  • 1–3 years of experience in materials, purchasing, or clerical roles.

  • SAP MM experience preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with vendors and internal teams.

  • Ability to perform in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Intermediate math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
