Role Purpose Statement
The Director of Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing all aspects of unit operations to ensure excellence in safety, quality, service, and efficiency. This is a hands-on, in-person leadership role that requires active engagement on the floor and close collaboration with teams across production, logistics, transportation, and ramp activities. The Director of Operations drives performance by ensuring compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines, while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.

Main Accountabilities
Operational Excellence

Direct production, logistics, transportation, and ramp operations to deliver on-time and high-quality results for airline customers.

Ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, sanitation, security, and regulatory standards (e.g., FAA, OSHA, FDA, USDA).

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the customer experience.
Leadership & People Development
- Lead with visibility and approachability, actively engaging with teams on the floor and in daily operations.
- Inspire, mentor, and develop managers and supervisors, ensuring they have the tools and support to grow as leaders.
- Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and empowerment at all levels of the organization.
- Communicate the “why” behind business decisions, aligning teams to the mission, KPIs, and customer expectations.
- Champion employee engagement by recognizing achievements, addressing concerns, and fostering inclusion and collaboration
Strategic & Financial Management

Partner with the General Manager to set operational goals and execute business strategies.

Manage P&L responsibilities, ensuring financial targets are met through effective cost control and resource allocation.

Anticipate operational challenges and proactively implement solutions to protect service delivery and profitability
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong relationships with airline customers, ensuring confidence in operational performance and service reliability.

Partner with cross-functional departments (HR, Procurement, Finance, Culinary, and Customer Service) to align operations with broader business objectives.

Represent the unit in leadership meetings, audits, and reviews, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in high-volume operations, food production, airline catering, transportation, logistics, or related industries.
- Proven track record of managing P&L, operational budgets, and performance metrics.
- Experience leading large teams, including unionized environments.
- Strong knowledge of safety, compliance, and quality standards in regulated industries.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and customer-driven environment.
