Role Purpose Statement
The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all food production, handling, and distribution processes meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. This role oversees quality systems, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications while leading a team dedicated to maintaining excellence in airline catering operations.

Main Accountabilities
This is a hands-on leadership role with limited time at a desk. You’ll be actively engaged on the production floor, ensuring compliance, coaching teams, and driving food safety excellence every day.
Food Safety & Compliance

Ensure full compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, FSMA preventive controls, customer specifications, and corporate/regional food safety standards.

Take immediate corrective actions when needed to maintain product integrity and regulatory compliance.

Conduct monthly assessments, routine microbiological testing, and regular product inspections to safeguard quality.

Review and analyze HACCP logs and weekly food safety documentation to identify trends and risks.

Supervise pest control programs and manage vendor services related to food safety.

Lead investigations into food safety issues and provide detailed reporting to customers and leadership.

Support inspection and audit readiness, coaching teams before, during, and after external reviews.
Operational Excellence

Perform and document regular checks on products and services to ensure standards are consistently met.

Use checklists and monitoring tools to verify compliance with food safety programs.

Collaborate with Operations, Production, Sales, HR, and Regional Quality teams to sustain and improve food safety practices.

Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, customers, and regulatory authorities.
Reporting & Documentation

Monitor and prepare reports for the food safety and quality management system.

Enter monthly data into company web-based portals and maintain accurate documentation.

Keep manuals and procedures updated, implementing new rules and standards promptly.

Collect and track food safety and quality documents, including sanitation verifications, environmental monitoring, portion control, and safety performance metrics.
Leadership & Team Development

Recruit, onboard, train, and coach food safety staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Provide clear guidance and performance evaluations to ensure team effectiveness.

Communicate professionally across all levels of staff, remaining positive, proactive, and resourceful in a fast-paced environment.

Support company initiatives such as Global Quality Standards (GQS), HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, and Employee Safety.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related fields.
- Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
- Five or more years of experience in Food Safety roles with a minimum of 2 years management experience.
- Technical proficiency in the areas such as of food microbiology, food chemistry, food safety, and food regulations.
- Proven understanding of government regulations in relation to food processing as FDA FSMA, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), HACCP regulations and USDA.
- Proven analytical and leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Be a collaborative leader who inspires, manages, coaches and respects people.
- Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills that combines with an aptitude for multi-tasking.
- Knowledge of computer skills required, including use of technology (scanners, tablets, printers, copiers, etc.) and Microsoft Office programs, as well as cloud based systems.
