Role Purpose Statement

The Supervisor oversees inventory, purchasing, receiving, and distribution activities to ensure all food, beverage, equipment, and service items required for airline catering are available, accurate, and delivered on time. This role supports daily flight production, maintains inventory integrity, leads a frontline team, and ensures compliance with airline, food safety, and company standards.

Main Accountabilities

Materials & Inventory Management

  • Monitor usage trends and adjust stock levels proactively to prevent shortages or waste.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory data, proper rotation of perishable goods (FIFO/FEFO), and investigate and apply root‑cause analysis for inventory discrepancies, spoilage, or service failures.
  • Maintain vendor relationships, track deliveries, resolve discrepancies, address quality or fulfillment issues and support cost‑saving initiatives.
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and reduce costs.

Procurement & Supplier Coordination

  • Manage purchase orders based on forecasted demand / operational needs.
  • Negotiate pricing where applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with airline specifications, contract requirements, and regulatory standards.

Team Leadership

  • Conduct food cost meetings. Lead and mentor material handlers, receivers, and inventory staff, support employee development.
  • Train employees on SOPs, safety, equipment handling, and inventory processes.
  • Plan schedules to meet operational demand while managing overtime and productivity

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with production, and other operational teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Support airline programs, menu changes, and equipment transitions.
  • Assist in preparing for airline audits and internal compliance reviews.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, related field (preferred).
    • 3+ years of materials, supply chain, warehouse, or inventory experience; airline catering preferred. 1+ year of supervisory or lead experience in a fast‑paced environment.

     

    Skills & Competencies

    • Strong knowledge of inventory control, forecasting, and purchasing practices.
    • Familiarity with industry a plus
    • Proficient in inventory management systems (SAP, Fiori, and Ariba) preferred.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
