Position Overview

The Senior Operations Manager, is responsible for leading and optimizing operational performance across multiple functions to drive efficiency, cost savings, and service excellence. This role will oversee daily operations, implement strategic initiatives, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless execution of business objectives. The ideal candidate will bring a background in airline catering, commercial catering, or a related high-volume, time-sensitive industry, and possess a commanding leadership presence, proven people management skills, and a strong focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

 

  • Work location: onsite @ our Sky Chefs facility @ Austin-Bergstrom International Airport 
  • Work schedule: 5 consecutive working days followed by 2 consecutive days off. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday during regular business hours; however, flexibility is required to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate

What You'll Do

Business Strategy, Policies, and Tools

  • Lead the execution of CSC (Customer Service Center) planning, ensuring seamless implementation and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Enforce compliance with corporate policies and CSC directives, maintaining adherence to regulatory and company standards.
  • Participate and support company sponsored initiatives such as Global Quality Standard (GQS), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Lean Manufacturing, Employee Safety

Managing Business

  • Provide data-driven insights to support the development of the annual business plan and budget for the CSC.
  • Implement short-term operational planning, ensuring cross-functional coordination and timely corrective actions in case of deviations.
  • Oversee the economic and operational performance of the CSC, ensuring efficient management in line with corporate frameworks and evolving market demands.
  • Optimize the deployment of human, technical, and material resources, ensuring productivity and operational excellence.
  • Ensure timely procurement and availability of materials required for seamless CSC operations.
  • Standardize work methods in alignment with company protocols and customer contractual obligations.
  • Initiate and oversee Capex requests, ensuring strategic investments align with business needs and growth objectives.
  • Drive continuous process optimization, identifying and implementing efficiency-enhancing initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality regulations, adhering to both corporate policies and local regulatory requirements.
  • Foster clear communication and collaboration across all internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational synergy.

What We Look for in a Candidate

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5–7 years in Airline Catering, Hospitality Operations, or a similar fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
  • Process Improvement & Optimization: Strong hands-on experience in identifying bottlenecks and implementing changes to enhance operational efficiency and drive continuous improvement. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Data Analysis & Decision-Making: Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret complex data (e.g., performance metrics, financial reports, KPIs) to support strategic decisions.
  • Financial Acumen: Solid understanding of financials, including cost tracking, overtime management, fleet and building expenses, and other operating costs.
  • Supply Chain Expertise: knowledge in optimizing end-to-end supply chain processes, from procurement to distribution, to achieve food cost targets.
  • Union Environment: Experience working in unionized settings is a plus. Our workplace includes both union and non-union employees.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly detail-oriented, organized, with strong task and time management abilities.
